Metascience

In addition to research of psychological phenomena across various domains, members of LIRA Lab also examine how the scientific community conducts research, and explore ways to improve scientific practices. For many years, we have actively advocated for and adhered to the principles of open science. Our goal is to promote openness as a scientific value, raise awareness of the ethical aspects of research, and contribute to enhancing the replicability of psychological findings.

Members of LIRA Lab follow and implement the guidelines set forth by the Open Science Platform. Beyond supporting and fostering good scientific practices—such as study preregistration, open data, open materials, and open scripts, in alignment with the requirements of Serbia’s Ministry of Education, Science, and Technological Development (MPNTR) and European Union institutions—some of our members also conduct research on evaluating new research practices, provide recommendations in the field of open science, and contribute to educating the academic community on the necessity and principles of its implementation.

In the spirit of openness and resource sharing, LIRA Lab members launched REPOPSI – the Repository of Psychological Instruments in Serbian, which provides access to a wide range of original and translated/adapted psychological measures, scales, tests, and other instruments. We also developed the openly available Roma Faces Database, the only database of its kind in the world.

More specific, closely related and overlapping topics we explore within this line of research include: examining the replicability of empirical findings in psychological research; investigating the universality of psychological phenomena through cross-cultural studies; conducting meta-analyses; evaluating and improving publication standards and policies in scientific journals; promoting and advocating for open science principles
